Description:
Do you worry about the life expectancy of VCR tapes, CDs, and motion pictures? Do you know what to do with audiovisual materials in the event of a flood or pipe break? In the event of a disaster, knowing the nature of the materials and which formats are salvageable will help you set recovery priorities.
Topics include life expectancies of common media, preservation methods for extending the life of AV materials, disaster preparedness strategies, and elements of response and recovery. Basic salvage techniques are outlined for the following types of formats: computer magnetic media, sound and video tapes, optical media, and motion pictures.
